Knowing the parts and operation of your pool is extremely important. Maintaining your equipment will guarantee you a long and happy experience of owning your own pool. These simple steps will assure you how to perform and execute swimming pool maintenance and service.

Maintenance Tips for Swimming Pools

 

* Test water at least every other day

 

* Sanitizer should be kept at safe levels:

(Chlorine 1.0 – 3.0 ppm)

 

* Shock your pool on a routine basis to remove waste. This should be done on a weekly basis.

 

* Algaecide should be added every other week to prevent algae growth.

 

* pH will need to be maintained for a reading of 7.4-7.6

 

Filter Operation

 

* You should run your filter a minimum of 12 hours per day. You may find that a timer is more efficient. Two six hour cycles is preferred.

 

* Backwash your filter monthly or as need. (follow manufacturer’s recommendations for the operation of your equipment).

 

Other Guidelines

 

* Brush pool surfaces when shocking

 

* Skim surface of the pool as needed.

 

* Empty skimmer and motor baskets weekly.

 

* Clean off tile line and water line (ask us about which surface cleaner is recommended)

 

* Vacuum pool weekly.
