Being of Italian descent, we would like to believe our ancestors had a part in building the ancient Roman Baths and pools that are still with us today. Our fathers were builders as were our grandfathers and even great grandfathers. Our family owned the very first pool company in Litchfield county. These first pools were built using 2x4's and plywood with a vinyl liner (high tech at the time). We have a very long and solid history of pool building and engineering.
Gregorio's came into existence in 1978 due to the departure and retirement of Art DeMichiel founder of NORWESCO Pools. Art started building pools in the late 1950's and well into the 1970's There was a huge void for pool services when Art moved to Georgia. This void was quickly filled by his two sons Gregory DeMichiel and his 13 year old brother Jonathon. The brothers picked up where there father left off and started Gregorio Pool and Spas ("Gregorio" is Italian for Gregory).
After graduating UCONN, Jonathon DeMichiel began taking over operations in the mid-80's and within a few years, he purchased the entire pool company.
The company grew in size by adding new and innovated products and services. The Gregorio Plaza was purchased in 2005. Our plaza now host Kennedy Electric, Little Bear Gym, Dwan's Furniture as well as our own offices at 379 Goshen Rd. in Torrington, CT.
